An exciting opportunity has arisen to influence the development of the newly established Wales Adoption Register. This register will form an integral part of the national elements of the National Adoption Service.

BAAF’s work positively impacts on the lives of thousands of children across the UK needing protection and care through adoption and fostering and there are over 5,000 looked after children in Wales at any given time. The Wales Adoption Register will work closely with regional collaborative adoption agencies in Wales and Voluntary Adoption Agencies to make sure that children and families have the best chance of finding a suitable match.

Reporting to the Director, BAAF Cymru the Project Leader will have a central role in overseeing the day-to-day functions of the service and take a lead in planning and implementing the future development of the Wales Adoption Register.

A qualified social worker, you will need an understanding of the placement needs of children within public care and knowledge of adoption legislation, policy and practice in Wales and throughout the UK. With your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you should be able to build effective working relationships with a range of individuals and have the capacity to enthuse and encourage others. Your job will involve travel across Wales, which will involve some overnight stays away from home. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure check.

There may be an opportunity for the successful candidate to be considered for future opportunities within BAAF Cymru as they arise.
