Welsh Government
Senior Research Officer – Stakeholder Research
Salary : £36,000- £42,850
Location : Cardiff
Permanent, Full time

This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the delivery of the stakeholder research programme in support of the Welsh Government’s Management Team.
This programme of research provides valuable insight into the Welsh Government’s strategic working relationships with local authorities, businesses, the education and health sectors as well as other key stakeholder organisations in Wales. It provides evidence towards the performance of the Welsh Government to inform its business improvement agenda.
The post holder will conduct in-house research projects with a wide range of Welsh Government stakeholders. This will involve consulting with senior policy colleagues in order to develop research proposals, carrying out surveys, interviews and/or focus groups and presenting the findings.
In addition, the role has an important cross-departmental dimension to promote best practice for measuring stakeholder and customer satisfaction within the Welsh Government and the post holder will provide guidance and advice to policy colleagues, as appropriate.
You will need the following to apply:
• First or upper second class degree with a strong social research methods component and/or post graduate research training or qualification.
• A track record of designing and carrying out qualitative and quantitative research projects that meets the needs of customers.
• Good oral Welsh language skills in order to carry out interviews and/or focus groups through the medium of Welsh. A good level of written Welsh language skills is ideally required but support for development can be provided for this within the post.
This is a challenging and rewarding research role that should provide ample scope for professional development and the opportunity to make an impact in the Welsh Government. The post offers the chance to develop hands-on research experience and provides a rare opportunity to develop broader strategic capabilities by advising the Welsh Government’s senior management team on key issues.
