Our Colors (coil) business is primarily based from our Shotton, North Wales site. Steel has been successfully processed on the Tata Steel site at Shotton in North Wales for more than 120 years. The profitable and cash generative plant produces a wide range of world-class galvanised and pre-finished (painted) steel building systems, which supplies the construction, domestic appliance and manufactured goods markets amongst others. Shotton has developed a number of unique, technically advanced and high value products and services for customers in the UK and throughout Europe.

We are currently recruiting for a Market Development Manager covering the North of England & Scotland. This roles sits within our sales and marketing function, and within Tata Steel’s Building Envelope business. Preferably based at our Shotton Works, you will develop and maintain Colorcoat® branded product specifications for building envelope applications, by establishing good working relationships with the construction supply chain, within our key sectors, therefore Clients, Developers, Architects, Contractors and other key specifiers & influencers.

The incumbent of the role will undertake face-to-face ‘project meetings’ with the identified specifiers, to identify new projects within our key sectors, develop and secure Colorcoat® branded product specifications, and the roofing / cladding ‘system’ NBS specifications of our supply chain partners wherever possible.

The hosting and delivery of technical CPD (Continuous Professional Development) seminars for architects and others specifiers and construction professionals is an everyday part of the role. You will then be expected to track and record all relevant major construction projects in the region, on the Pipedrive project tracking system, to maximise and defend specifications of Colorcoat® branded products, and other associated product offerings. Within the role, you will maintain those specifications through the construction supply chain, through to receipt of an order, to achieve targeted sales volumes for the Colors business.

Applicants should ideally be educated to degree level and have significant experience of specification sales in construction. The successful candidate should have a proven track record of exceeding challenging targets in a specification sales role, with experience of successfully dealing with Architects, Clients, Developers and Contractors a distinct advantage. Applicants will be a highly motivated, self-starter with a strong desire to succeed in this challenging and high profile role, and will be able to demonstrate the ability to work successfully alongside sales and marketing colleagues from across the Tata Steel Construction function.
