IntaPeople are currently recruiting for an industry leading manufacturer in the Cardiff area who due to continued growth and success require a Senior Industrial Designer to join their team. This is a brand-new position within the company and will give someone the opportunity to make their mark within a growing team. You will be responsible for managing the introduction of new products from initial design stages through to the business environment.

  • Manage the introduction of new products from design phases through to a finished product
  • Technical advisor to the design team on the conception of new product ideas ensuring a sound engineering design is passed on to the NPD team
  • Main technical contact for New Product Development team
  • Monitor progress of projects within the New Product Development and design teams
  • Manage personnel and projects in line with objectives of company and department
  • Ensure engineers are adhering to departmental/company procedures and policies
  • Ensure projects are delivered to other departments within the company (Production, Sales etc.) and that they have all necessary documentation
  • Oversee any component or process issues that may be highlighted by production
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve any quality issues
  • Implement corrective actions/process improvements
  • Chair FMEA/engineering analysis meetings to highlight any current or historic quality issues
  • Management of team and personal development plans
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to by all members of the team
  • A relevant design/engineering degree (Industrial design/product design/mechanical engineering etc.)
  • Previous experience project managing products from initial design concepts through to a finished manufactured product
  • Experience with engineering analysis/best practice tools (FMEA etc.)
  • Previous management/supervisory experience
  • Experience with a variety of materials (plastics, metals etc.)
  • Experience with a variety of manufacturing techniques (injection moulding, CNC etc.)
  • 3D CAD experience (preferably Solidworks)
  • Experience within a highly-regulated industry such as; automotive/aerospace/medical would be highly beneficial
