Pobl Group is the parent Company and provides all the corporate services required for each of the Group companies. This ranges from Finance, Human Resources, IT and Facilities Management to Communications & Marketing and Sales.

Following a recent restructure of the team we are investing in 2 new roles suited to graduates who want a career in Finance and Accounting. The Finance and Procurement Division covers all aspects of day to day finance including the production of management accounts, financial accounts, treasury, payroll, accounts payable and receivable.

These posts will report directly into the Divisional Financial Controllers who will oversee your development and training and ensure that over the training period you fulfil all the relevant experience requirements of your professional body.

The main purpose of these posts are to assist the business partnering and financial accounts teams with the financial reporting of all areas within the Group, in line with the department`s operational plan. The role will involve working closely with other members of the finance team and ensuring the supply of accurate and timely information. You will also be expected to get out and about in the business and understand how finance operates and how we develop our services. Your role may involve different placements and projects both within the team and the wider group.

What will you do?

Support the business partnering team in:

-the preparation of monthly management accounts,
-the preparation annual budget and rolling forecasts
-analysing variances to budget and producing commentaries for schemes and areas for the relevant divisions.
-carrying out general finance duties including the posting of journals,

Support the Financial Accounts team in

-Monthly completion of balance sheet reconciliations
-preparing and processing accounting journals as required
-Investigating and resolving discrepancies including liaising with operational staff at various levels.
-Assist with the maintenance of the Groups accounting records and Chart of Accounts
-Assist with the review of new accounting standards to understand they`re impact on the business
-Assist with the production of the annual Statutory Accounts, particularly gathering data to support the notes to the accounts

Assisting the Financial Controllers in delivering key business projects

Support and guide operational teams and budget holders in developing their financial awareness.

Process and supply KPI information for budget holders.

Assist operational personnel within the Group with the completion of external return paperwork relating to finance information.

Assist in the annual audit process, providing any supporting information as required.

Assist with the completion of balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with financial controls within the finance accounting systems

Communicate where necessary with third parties relating to schemes / projects on information requests in a timely and effective manner.

Provide cover for other Trainee Accountants within the finance team.

Assist with any other "ad hoc" financial reporting exercises in line with the level of the role and responsibilities.

The post holders will report directly into the relevant Financial Controller of but will rotate around the business partnering teams and the reporting and compliance teams during the length of their contract.

We will expect you to attend University and pass your professional exams in a reasonable time period. You will need experience and skills in the following areas:

-Excellent numeracy and literacy skills with attention to detail and accuracy
-Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and v-look ups
-Able to communicate with a range of people both internally and externally
-Ability to manage work to strict accounting deadlines whilst ensuring an attention to detail
-Ability to plan, execute and evaluate a project
-Ability to work on own initiative
-A passion for digital and continuous improvement
-A good quality degree 2:1 or higher
