Are you ready for a working life that’s varied and rewarding and provides an opportunity for both personal and professional growth? Then join us as an Employment Support Worker & Administrator and you could soon be putting your skills and experience to excellent use.

A well-established charity that helps ex-offenders and disadvantaged people to move their lives forward, St. Giles Trust offers support to help people overcome any issue that might be holding them back. Our Welsh office is working on an ESF/SFA funded project called ‘Working Out’ that provides skills and support for unemployed disadvantaged families in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The project’s aim is to enhance participants’ chances of gaining employment through motivation and encouragement with accredited training and help with developing employment skills. It's here that we need your help.

What you will be doing:

  • Engaging with, supporting and developing excellent relationships with a caseload of clients, producing realistic learning and employment plans for each individual and carrying out regular reviews.
  • Providing day-to-day supervision of peer advisors and taking overall responsibility for project delivery when the line manager is absent.
  • Identifying and developing training and employment opportunities that motivate clients and help them progress and liaising with colleagues, trainers and external agencies.
  • Providing general administrative support, including maintaining accurate records and communicating information using office systems and equipment.
  • Collecting and collating data, including monthly monitoring, and undertaking tracking of participants moving on from the project.

And what you will need:

  • A good awareness of the issues faced by the client group and a demonstrable track record of managing a caseload of participants and achieving set targets for training and employment progression.
  • Knowledge of matrix standards and safeguarding practices and policies and the ability to promote safeguarding among clients and colleagues alike and implement quality assurance measures.
  • The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with employers, partners and other external organisations, in order to expand the opportunities available to the project’s participants.
  • Flexibility and a creative and collaborative approach to planning programmes and a range of activities and experience of setting up and running systems to monitor, evidence and report on progress.
  • Strong IT skill, including proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook in a similar environment and a proven ability to work with case management databases (we use Meganexus) on a daily basis.

In return you can expect a competitive salary and generous leave allowance, staff pension scheme, flexible working, a mentoring programme, an advice & counseling service, childcare vouchers, season ticket loan and much more besides.
