The Role
We are recruiting an exceptional Laboratory coordinator who will supervise the laboratory function, ensuring the highest standards of quality in all aspects of the manufacturing and the supply chain. This role will require someone who has a high degree of integrity with a vision to drive for best in industry technical service.

Key responsibilities:

- Supervision of the laboratory functions through effective interpersonal skills, communication, planning and standard setting.
- Proactively ensure laboratory standards are meeting accreditation requirements.
- Host Laboratory accreditation assessment in a professional manner.
- Manage QA budget and compliance to AOP, identifying cost saving opportunities for the department.
- Ensure proficiency schemes are maintained across all labs.
- Achieve compliance at all external audits and accreditation.
- Educate and train all operators in the key quality tests.
- Monitor all first production runs of any "change" ensuring that products are produced to the right standard.
- Participate actively in daily manufacturing review meetings and Operation projects.
- Investigate complaint trends and implement preventive action to reduce/eliminate issues.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and 3rd parties on all visits and audits.
- Support the development and implement of site hygiene auditing / validation of CIP and hygiene processes ensuring standards across the site are defined and maintained.
- Prepare and report agreed targets to the senior manufacturing team at monthly meetings
- Proactively work with the other sites and central function to ensure consistency of standards.

The Candidate

The successfully appointed Laboratory Coordinator will -:

- Have demonstrable experience and knowledge of working within a food or FMCG laboratory environment.
- Have demonstrable experience of quality systems and processes.
- Be fully conversant with BRC, ISO 9001/2000 standards and HACCP
- Have previously been involved with external audits particularly laboratory accreditation
- Have sound knowledge of Quality Assurance processes, specifically regarding the control of inbound products through the supply chain.
- Have a demonstrable track record of managing a Quality Assurance (QA) and/or IQC function within the Supply Chain function.
- Have an understanding of manufacturing technology and process and the quality risks associated with an FMCG company.
- Have the ability to design, manage and develop databases for trending data.
- Have excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise with people from all levels.
- Have excellent analytical skills, a strong work ethic and the ability to be decisive as well as assertive.
